Founders
Dr Mohan Dewan is a patent and trade mark attorney for over 35 years and a practising senior advocate and jurist. He was in charge of the Intellectual property Law department of the University of Natal in South Africa where he also taught Private International Law. Having drafted and successfully prosecuted several hundred patent specifications he has come to be acknowledged as an expert in patent specification drafting.
He has drafted and obtained over 8000 patents in nearly every technology area from Life Sciences, Molecular material science to Engineering to Software and Electronics & Telecommunication and Space Technology.
His area of expertise comprises patent and trade mark litigation, technology transfer and IPR valuation. His firm RK Dewan & Co. represents over 3,000 clients worldwide. He has several publications to his credit and is actively involved in seminars and workshops on Intellectual Property Rights for training IP professionals and patent office examiners.
Nitti Dewan is a medical doctor, a qualified patent and trademark attorney and a patent valuation analyst currently heading the patents and business development divisions at RK Dewan & Co. With over 22 years’ experience in the IP field, Dr Dewan is a one-stop source for clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 500 companies which require business-savvy advice on cost-effective strategies for patent filing and prosecution in more than 100 jurisdictions worldwide.
Dr Dewan also supervises the management of large domestic and international patent portfolios. Dr Dewan has an extensive experience carrying out patent searches in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, bioengineering, medical devices, automation, information technology, nanotechnology and materials sciences.
As a patent valuation analyst, actively involved in IP commercialization and advising clients on creating brands and registering them in India and abroad. Dr Dewan was co-chair of the International Trademark Association Bulletin Committee (Association News) for the 2018-2019 term.

Mr. Nagendra Kumar
Senior Patent Associate
Nagendra specializes in the field of Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Medical devices, and is a qualified Indian patent agent. He holds vast experience of over 11 years in handling myriads of projects in the fields of Patent and Technology Transfer/Licensing. He has been associated with RKD for more than 1 year. Prior to joining RKD, he was associated with noted MNC’s in India, where he supported several national and international companies in the area of Patents, Licensing, and clinical data management. His practice areas include drafting & prosecuting patent applications, patent search, patent analytics, litigation support, technology transfer, in-licensing and out-licensing, and IP strategy.
He is focused on innovation advancement, developing IP-centric business strategies for MSME industries, implementing advanced analytical tools to assist clients in making informed decisions. He is a pharmacy graduate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and a post-graduate in clinical research from Cranfield University, UK. He also holds a post-graduate diploma in Pharmaceutical Management. He represents RKD at various IP conferences and also advises clients on patents and licensing.
Vishesh has a degree in the field of Electrical Engineering from NUS Singapore, specializing in digital communications and embedded systems. He’s been working in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) for 2 years, and has been associated with RKD for 2 years. Prior to joining RKD, he was associated with Hewlett Packard Inc., Singapore (as a Software Developer) and Asiatel (S), Singapore (as a Software Developer/ Systems Integrator).
His primary responsibilities include drafting patent applications, performing prior art and FTO searches. He is also actively involved in researching, assessing and implementing software tools and automation processes in the firm & Reconnaissance Consulting Pvt Ltd.
His few hobbies are Scuba Diving (Advanced PADI certified), Piano (classically trained but enjoys fusion) and Percussion (Drumming). He’s a post rock enthusiast, an avid reader and contemplator of deep stimulating literary works.
