Patent to Product (or Technology Platform) Ratio Analysis
With Reconnaissance, you are provided with vital insights into your patent portfolio through accurate assessments. This is beneficial in keeping track of how many of your patents actually transform or have the potential to transform into products or platforms. Our assessments are very detailed and take account of every aspect to help you make well-informed decisions.
What We Do
Reconnaissance assesses your patent portfolio to identify how many patent applications/ patents have the potential or are currently being converted into products or technology platforms (based on the product claims). We also determine how many processes have the potential or are currently being implemented into the enterprise’s operations (based on process claims).
These assessments include seminal as well as incremental patents and applications. Essentially, this exercise assesses the level of integration of the patent portfolio into the business. If the successfully integrated products and processes lead to cost savings or an increase in market share and topline, then this increase in value can be captured. Further, it can be compared as a % return on investment in IP & R&D. This type of information is very useful in informing strategic decisions taken by a business.
It is also possible to carry out a patent-to-product ratio analysis for a specific product that the client is interested in. In such a case, Reconnaissance provides information on the total number and type of patents that are applied for versus granted versus utilized for the production of any product. This applies to patented processes as well.
